Who we are
We started out advocating for abandoned hounds around 2013. It didn’t take long to realize there was also a need for a safe place for horses and other large animals to go when law enforcement has to step in due to neglect or abuse. When we became an official 501c3 in 2016, we added horses to the rescue and expanded to include other large animals such as goats, pigs, fowl, and other "oddities.” In recent years we have been lead to almost exclusively rescue horses. Due to time and financial constraints; combined with the near impossibility of adoptions and transports, we are retiring the hound side of the rescue and will be becoming Homeward Horse Haven in 2023.
Our vision is to continue to grow in size and support for the local agencies serving our communities. We have and will continue to go on education calls and and intervene when requested by local law enforcement. It is our hope that by providing this service we can improve the lives of the horses and other animals in our community while nurturing the relationship between rescues and law enforcement in general.

get to knowMississippi State Statutes
It is important to be familiar with the Mississippi state statutes regarding cruelty and neglect. By being familiar, we save law enforcement valuable time by reporting what IS in violation, not what might be.

Do's & Don'tsOf Reporting
Our experiences have shown us that people are often willing to help, but often do not know the proper ways to do so. Seemingly harmless mistakes can make it difficult for an investigation and render any potential evidence useless. Here you can find what can help or hurt a case.
